INTERVIEW WITH THE TOP ELEVEN 2023 PLAYER AND COLUMBUS SC MANAGER

Hello Columbus SC manager. First of all, thank you for accepting our interview invitation.

Hello Columbus SC manager. First of all, thank you for accepting our interview invitation.

Can you introduce yourself to us? You can use your real ID or anonymous ID.

Thanks so much for having me, my name is Ben and I’m from Columbus Ohio.

Why are you playing Top Eleven?

I play top eleven for a handful of reasons. First, and most importantly, the community. It truly is a band of brothers and the connection we all have is TE. Second, this mobile game feels far more rewarding and takes more thought/effort than a game like candy crush. Third, I coach my sons soccer (football for non Americans) team. Managing a team on top eleven gives me new insight and thoughts for my real life coaching.

What does Top Eleven mean to you?

Top eleven means a lot to me. I spend a great deal of time training players, figuring out which trainings to use for which players, and things of that nature. So the games are important to me. They are a reflection on my trainings and I try to get as much information as possible from each game.

What is the team name you use in the game? Why did you choose this team name?

This is my biggest problem on Top Eleven. I haven’t found the perfect name yet. I’ve used many names, it started with Blue Jackets FC, then switched to Columbus SC, then Red Army, back to Columbus SC, and as of today we are unveiling our next name “Ridgeview United”. I’ve recently moved outside of Columbus and decided we needed to relocate our team as well. The problem for me is I want it to be personal and have meaning to me. But I don’t want it “too personal” where a crazy stranger could track me down or something. Also, the character limits, and things of that nature make it hard. I also want it to sound like a real club name. I don’t want “Ben FC” for example, because while it’s personal, it doesn’t sound authentic. Point being, I’m still on the hunt for the “perfect” team name.

Are you a member of a particular community? Can you introduce your community for us?

Im a carry over from Top Eleven Elites. I started my Twitter back in May of this year, and met “Meccas Ataköy ” and “RB California”. They welcomed me in and showed me the ropes. The amount of information this community has given me is invaluable. Recently the community has gone through a change, and is now the “Top Eleven Global Community”. Same great people, different name. If anything, this recent change has improved the community, and I’m grateful to be a part of it.

Can you give information about your team’s tactics?

I review and change my tactics for each game. Don’t get me wrong, I have what I call a “base set” of tactics that largely goes unchanged. I will look at my opponents team, although that normally doesn’t make me change much, unless my opponent has a very clear weakness. I will also look at the weather, as that makes a bigger difference than people think. My “base set” of tactics is; Attacking mentality, Down the flanks passing, with mixed passing lengths. The defense tactics and offside trap is a case by case basis depending on weather and opponent. But typically I do High pressure, normal tackling, and either man to man if I have 4 defenders, zonal if I have three.

Do you have any criticism and solution suggestions that you would like to convey to Top Eleven managers?

Honestly, that’s a great question. Top Eleven has been doing a good job with these updates and I’m excited to see what they do going forward. It seems like as soon as I have a complaint they address it in the following update. For example, rebounds and things like that.

Thank you Ben, have a nice day.
